Collection 2000 Cream Puff Lip Cream

 (Image: http://pamperedandpolished.co.uk)

I love matt lip colours, and I came across Collection 2000's Cream Puff Lip Creams in Boots the other day. Being super cheap at £2.99 a pop I thought I'd give it a go. I've been after a nice bright summer colour so I chose Fairy Cake (second left), mostly because it was the the colour that appealed to me the most and seemed to be the most popular.

Collection 2000 promise matt rich lip colour that is velvety soft and moisturising on your lips. Matt colours can dry your lips out somewhat so this really appealed to me.

There are a couple of things about this product that I dont like - one is the packaging. The lettering on the product seems kind of aimed at younger girls - with a bouncy font and a wand applicator - I much prefer lipsticks as I feel you can get a better application with those. The second is the smell - like the name "cream puff" it literally smells like ice cream soda. I hate ice cream soda.. luckily the smell is only in the tube and not on your lips. It doesn't taste like cream soda either, and in fact has quite a perfumey cosmetic taste to it.

Application is quite hard. Because it has a fabric wand applicator, it gets kind of streaky and you have to apply several times to get an even coat. It doesn't apply well to dried out lips either - make sure you remove any dead skin and apply lip balm beforehand. Once its on, however, it has a solid colour and looks really nice and matt without being too dry.

For a £2.99 lipstick you can't expect the greatest staying power - and I'd rate this one as average. The colour doesn't come off on a drinks straw, but will come off if you eat, and presumably, kiss. So an application after lunch is most definitely needed.

Overall, I do really love the colour and I think its a bargain for the price. I wish it didn't have such a sweet smell and would have a bit better staying power, but for £2.99 I don't mind having to reapply throughout the day. The colour range is lovely too, its small but theres definitely a  colour in there for everyone.

Have you tried the Collection 2000 Cream Puff lip creams? What is your favourite budget lip colour?

  1. Despite the application issues you mentioned, the final result is quite pretty.

It's quite a shame that the colour range is so limited.

    1. Thank you! I seem to have lost my lip cream so I've not had the chance to wear it recently!
