5 Makeup Looks For NYE

On all major events like new years eve everyone spends so much time planning their outfit and all the accessories, but seems to forget that makeup is a major accessory too! I picked out five existing makeup tutorials that would look great for nye '11. At night you can go a little heavier with your makeup, so be dramatic and try something daring that you wouldn't normally wear. Because nye only happens once a year...

1. The perfect chiseled face - Contouring & Highlighting

I love Petrilude's videos, he does amazing theatrical makeup but has some excellent tutorials on makeup basics. This one is on contouring and highlighting - if you hate the size of your nose, your double chin, or think your lips are uneven/too small, contouring and highlighting is perfect for  you. This video tells you everything you need to know. And if you think nobody uses contouring, you are very wrong..

2. The Classic Vintage

This isn't the best video I know for pinup makeup but it is the best to show the basics of how to do it and includes eyebrows and lashes which are often forgotten in these videos. If you like wearing  your makeup a little more natural this look is for you - you can forget the red lipstick and change to a more neutral colour, and if you like to vamp up your style you can add a lot more volume to your eyelashes. I pretty much wear this look without the red on a day to day basis because its actually quite quick and easy to do.

3. The Smokey Eye

The smokey eye is an absolute classic, but a lot of people use really harsh blacks to create it and I don't think that suits eyebody, unlike a brown smokey eye. This look is based on Kim Kardashian and uses some really nice gold tones that adds a bit of sparkle to the look. If you want Kim's look exactly I'd probably put more colour on the lower eye than Jessica Harlow does, but other than that I looove this look.

4. Barbie After Midnight

This one is for those who like colour in their makeup - this is a super cute look that takes a little more time. So you love your pink and can take the time to pamper yourself, try it. I wore this once and it was very sweet, but I've grown out of pink eyeshadow on myself now. Wear with some fluttery eyelashes!

5. The Angelina Jolie

This video is a bit weird because she creepily does look like Jolie, but the look itself is really nice. If you don't want to make youreself an exactly clone then leave out the contouring. I love this though, big eyes, big lips... my favourite combo...

Where are you going this year for NYE? What makeup will you wear?
